Stone cladding & anchors
Thin stone panels hang from anchors or rails so that the frame carries loads while the facade retains a stone appearance.
Traditional stone is structural, while modern stone curtains are skin. Panel thickness, joints, and back ventilation govern durability.
Anchor corrosion, thermal movement, freeze-thaw action, and stone anisotropy cause failures. Samples and property tests matter as much as color.
The method preserves the apparent weight of masonry while adapting it to towers and seismic conditions.
Individual panels should remain replaceable. Drawings must show drainage and ventilation rather than relying entirely on sealant.
