Timber frame & CLT

A family of structural timber methods ranging from traditional frames to cross-laminated timber panels.

Traditional frames use posts, beams, braces, joinery, and metal fittings. Platform framing repeats stud walls and joisted floors.

CLT and glulam are engineered and cut in factories for rapid assembly. Carbon storage, short schedules, and warm exposed surfaces are common benefits.

Fire resistance, acoustics, moisture, shrinkage, and splitting at connections are major design challenges. Timber construction is not inherently simple.

Mid-rise and tall timber depends on codes, fire certification, and shrinkage details. Exposed wood and fire strategy must be agreed early.
