Proportion
The dimensional relationship between parts and between each part and the whole.
The golden ratio, classical orders, bodily measure, and grids belong to different proportional traditions. Repeated ratios often underlie rhythm and beauty.
Proportion alone does not complete a building because structure, systems, regulations, and budget adjust dimensions. Sketching ratios of window to wall is a useful exercise.
The Parthenon, Villa Rotonda, and Barcelona Pavilion are recurring examples in proportional study.
